Exciting news!
Shannon Gagliardo has secured the Morris School a spot in the Water-Smart Program for Lead in School and Child Care Drinking Water.
This Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Drinking Water Program uses funds from the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to offer accepted schools free lead testing and technical assistance to schools and childcare facilities.
Thank you Ms. Gagliardo for making school safer!

Forge is now accepting applications.
As a special offer, employees of Lenox Public Schools and families with children in the district are eligible to receive a $500 VISA Gift Card after moving in.
Apply to live at Forge today-we look forward to welcoming you home!

Starting next year:
1) The Pre-K schedule will be conveniently aligned to the K-5 schedule.
2) Pre-K seats unfilled by Lenox residents will be offered to existing LPS school choice families. (Note: Preschool is tuition-based and should not be confused with Massachusetts K-12 school choice)

Applications will be accepted through February 27, 2026.

Shannon worked with Guidance to write a grant to fund a Financial Literacy Fair in the spring and LMMHS has been awarded $6,100 from the State Treasurer’s Financial Education Innovation Fund to do just that!
Way to go!

Lenox Wins Westfield State Quiz Bowl!
Yesterday, Westfield State welcomed high school teams from Western Massachusetts to compete in the Quiz Bowl tournament. Trivia questions focused on the topics of History, Humanities, and Popular Culture.
As the winning high school team, we will have our school name and winning year inscribed on the Trivia Bowl Cup . LMMHS gets to "host" the trophy until they return to
defend the next year.
CONGRATULATIONS!!

Today was a very visible step forward as 3,000lb security bollards were installed at the main entrances of each school (one at LMMHS and two at Morris Elementary).
These safety measures were made possible through a grant secured by School Resource Officer Colvin and Highway Superintendent Gop, and brought to life by the Highway Department crew.
Many thanks to SRO Colvin, Superintendent Gop, and the entire Highway team for their collaboration and commitment to keeping Lenox Public Schools safe. LPS is fortunate to have such caring municipal partners.
Dr. Collins

A big THANK YOU to Chief Smith for accompanying the walkers and to his officers for ensuring that walkers were safe from the morning traffic.

The SEPAC will be hosting Jessica Drohan at Morris Elementary at 5:30pm on February 11, 2026 to discuss - Tackling Transitions: Practical Strategies for Easing Transition Struggles

Amelia has been awarded a Herman Melville Fellowship, which includes the opportunity to write at Melville's desk, in his historic Arrowhead estate, inspired by the same landscape that inspired Moby Dick.
As a Melville Fellow, Amelia will study under writer-in-residence emeritus Jana Laiz for the spring semester creating one or more original pieces of writing. There are no restrictions on the type of writing nor the subject of the works created.

Team 8227 Enginuity came home from the Vermont Qualifier as tournament victors!
The students won all 8 matches, and won the tournament outright.!
They also earned the "Design Award"!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Remember to thank a counselor!

We will be starting at Lilac Park, crossing West street to continue to Morris Elementary.

Our High School Robotics Team, Team 8227 Enginuity , competed in its second qualifying tournament this past weekend at Western New England University. The tournament hosted 25 teams from around Massachusetts. After the first 5 matches of the day, our team sat in 5th place, earning it a spot in the playoff rounds.
The students performed amazingly, making it to the finals of the tournament, ultimately finishing in second place!
They also won the "Think Award," whose criteria are:
"This judged award is given to the team that best reflects the journey the team took as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season. The engineering content within the portfolio is the key reference for judges to help identify the most deserving team. "
They also won the "Innovate Award" at the first qualifier! Here are those criteria:
"The Innovate Award celebrates a team that thinks imaginatively and has the ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness to make their designs come to life. This judged award is given to the team that has an innovative and creative ROBOT design solution to any specific components in the FIRST Tech Challenge game. Elements of this award include design, robustness, and creative thinking related to design. This award may address the design of the whole ROBOT or of a MECHANISM attached to the ROBOT and should work consistently during matches, but does not have to work all the time to be considered for this award. A portfolio is not required for this award."
As a result of its success, Team 8227 Enginuity has been invited to compete in the Massachusetts State Championship Tournament on March 15th at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
Team 8227 Enginuity is also competing in its final qualifying tournament of the year this Saturday, January 31st in Bennington, VT.
