With students returning to Lenox Public Schools tomorrow morning, it is all of our responsibility to keep them safe. The big yellow school buses will be back on the road after their summer break.
Drivers, please be alert and follow school-related traffic laws, including:
• Stopping for school buses (in Massachusetts, all lanes of traffic, in both directions, must stop when a school bus has flashing red lights and its stop arm extended. The only exception is on a divided highway with a physical barrier or median at least 5 feet wide).
• Obeying school zone speed limits
• Yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks
Parents and guardians, please also review these safety tips with your children:
Bus riders should:
• Wait at least 10 feet from the curb
• Board the bus only after it has completely stopped and the driver signals
Bicycle riders should:
• Always wear a properly fitting helmet
• Obey all traffic laws and signals
Children walking to school should:
• Only cross at crosswalks
• Never push or play near traffic
A sobering reminder of why vigilance matters: While no exact figure exists, it is estimated that every day in Massachusetts between 20,000 and 30,000 drivers illegally pass school buses.

School Committee Chair Oren Cass kicked off the event with a welcome back message to staff, followed by the Superintendent’s address from Dr. Collins. The keynote address was delivered by former Massachusetts Commissioner of Education, Jeff Riley.

(please read their letter to Morris Teachers)
Greetings Morris Elementary School Teachers-
Here at Adams Community Bank one of our core values is to support and promote our community. What would our community be without kids and those people that mold their minds each year? We know that many of you fund much of the extra costs for your classrooms, this year being no exception and costs are rising. The Adams Community Bank office in Lenox wanted to find a way to help support the school. For the Second year- We have held a snack drive over the last few weeks and would like to donate this Snack Bag to each classroom in hopes to ensure that all kids have snacks in their bellies to keep their minds fueled to work hard and do their best each day. We have asked some experts (our own kids and grandkids) for the best snack options all while trying to keep some healthy options included. We want to extend our greatest thank you to every teacher, support staff and the administrators for all they do for the students. We wish you all the best for the 2025-2026 school year!
Best Regards-
The Adams Community Bank Staff in Lenox.
