Morris Elementary is being awarded the prestigious Exemplary Reading Program Award!! Below, please see the email sent to Dr. Collins from Massachusetts Reading Association Exemplary Reading Program Award Chair _____________________________ Dear Dr. Collins, It is with great excitement that I write to share with you that Morris Elementary School has been awarded this year's Exemplary Reading Program Award. The Exemplary Reading Program Award is sponsored by the Massachusetts Reading Association (MRA) to recognize outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Its purpose is to call the public’s attention to outstanding programs in schools throughout Massachusetts. After a careful review of the Morris School's application and visiting the school, the committee unanimously supported this year's award to be given to the Morris Elementary School. We are thrilled to celebrate all of the amazing things happening to encourage the love of literacy in Lenox with all of you. The school and all of their hard work will be acknowledged next month at our annual conference and a beautiful banner will be presented to commemorate this accomplishment. Congratulations! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. _________________________ Morris Elementary, We thank you for all of your hard work and diligence. Congratulations on being recognized for your accomplishments in creating an exemplary reading instruction program. You make us all proud!

Morris School celebrated Global School Play Day on Friday! Global School Play Day is observed annually each February. This holiday was created to promote the importance of unstructured, regular play for children. It was initiated in 2015, following the realization that playtime for children was decreasing both at home and in school, which correlated to negative impacts on children’s development.
