The company that supplied our poster printer (Presentation Systems Inc.) held a school photo contest. Heather McNeice, our LMMHS Business & Computer Applications Teacher, entered LMMHS into the contest and... took first place! Take a look at the before & after photos of the LMMHS School Store front and you'll see why! Thank you Ms. McNeice for always going above and beyond!!

She's gone and done it again! Our Food Service Director, Shannon Gagliardo, just secured another grant. This time a breakfast grant for the Morris School from the New England Dairy Council. Morris will receive $1,147 to purchase a smoothie kit and host smoothie taste tests for students. This grant will help remove some processed foods at breakfast and introduce new items made with fresh ingredients. Director Gagliardo is excited about the introduction of smoothies made with "simple, clean ingredients with minimal added sugar, no food dyes, no additives we can't pronounce..." The LPS budget for next year includes the addition of a half-time Grant Writer. Director Gagliardo's position will go from half-time to full-time, with half of her day being devoted to grant writing. We anticipate that this position will be revenue positive for the District (meaning that LPS will raise more in grant revenues than it cost to make Director Gagliardo full-time).

Food Service Director Shannon Gagliardo has secured another grant! This time it is a $10,000 grant to roll out a Grab-and-Go After the Bell initiative at LMMHS! Way to go Director Gagliardo!! This grant comes from the Eos Foundation, which supports systemic solutions aimed at nourishing children’s bodies, nurturing their minds, building family economic security, and achieving gender equity and diversity in leadership across society. The LPS budget for next year includes the addition of a half-time Grant Writer. Director Gagliardo's position will go from half-time to full-time, with half of her day being devoted to grant writing. We anticipate that this position will be revenue positive for the District (meaning that LPS will raise more in grant revenues than it cost to make Director Gagliardo full-time).

Through a LEEF grant secured by Ms. Romeo-Leger, Brian Pinkney visited LMMHS last week. Mr. Pinkey's dynamic presentation was heartfelt, humorous and inspiring. He held the students' attention with his sincere stories about his experiences, drum beats, and drawing demonstrations. Most importantly, he showed students how they can make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others through reading, drawing, & visual literacy.
