LENOX — Lenox Memorial Middle & High School is pleased to announce that seniors Benjamin Harwood and David Fusco have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Benjamin and David are among approximately 34,000 students nationwide receiving the recognition for their academic promise. They were selected from a group of over 1.2 million applicants.
They will each receive a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program.
Students entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the competition.
According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, another 16,000 students were named semifinalists, who will compete for about 6,700 National Merit Scholarship Awards.
"Benjamin and David should be proud of what they’ve accomplished," Principal Brooke Kamienski said. "This recognition speaks to their academic ability and the effort they've put into their education. We're excited to celebrate them as they begin their senior year."
"Seeing two Lenox Memorial students earn national recognition is a proud moment for our school community," said Superintendent Dr. William Collins. "Congratulations to Benjamin and David. We look forward to seeing where their interests and talents take them."
