BOURNE — The Millionaires proved their undefeated record was likely worthy of a better seed in the state tournament on Tuesday, shrugging off a long trip to Cape Cod to beat Bourne 4-1 in the MIAA D-V Round of 16.

The Lenox girls were seeded 10th and had to drive to the coast to play No. 7 Bourne, but rode a singles sweep to improve their record to 18-0.

The 4-1 win was tidy on paper, but three matches went three sets, two of which were wins at first and second singles by Katie Shove and Julia Zanin. Both had to fight back after losing their opening sets, and Zanin escaped with a 6-4 win in her third, while Shove won the third 6-2.

Caity Giardina swept a tough third singles match 7-5, 6-4.

Lauren Romano and Brooklyn Butler won second doubles.
