OUTDOOR MASK REQUIREMENT FOR STUDENTS RESCINDED

This is William Cameron, the Lenox Supt. of Schools.

Yesterday Gov. Charlie Baker announced that, effective today, May 18, Pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school students no longer have to wear masks when outdoors, even if distance cannot be maintained.  The Governor stated that this new guidance applies to recess, physical education, youth sports, and outdoor learning environments.

Adults must continue to wear masks outdoors if distancing cannot be maintained.  At this time students and adults must continue to wear masks indoors.

At its meeting last night the Lenox School Committee unanimously voted to adopt the Governor’s new guidance.  In doing so, the School Committee amended the Lenox Public Schools’ masking protocol so that it conforms to the new guidance from the Commonwealth.

Please contact your child’s school nurse for further clarification of this change, if needed.
