To the Members of the Lenox Public Schools Community:
Attached is a letter that was distributed yesterday by Peter Light, the Acton-Boxboro Regional School District’s superintendent, to his district’s community. It’s a bit lengthy, but I ask you to read it nonetheless.
Mr. Light speaks as an educator dealing with the closure of his district’s schools due to COVID-19. In that sense he speaks on behalf not only of the educators in Acton-Boxboro, but of all Massachusetts educators, indeed, of educators throughout the world who are working their way through a crisis that is at once physical, intellectual, and emotional. But Mr. Light also speaks as the harried and worried parent of students who are dealing with the very real stresses and fears this unprecedented situation encourages.
I pass this along to you because of Peter Light’s insightfulness, candor, and his well-crafted message of hope. We will get through this so long as we remain united, diligent, tolerant of one another’s efforts, and – the key to it all – sympathetic to one another’s difficulties.
Thank you. Please stay safe. And please let’s look out for one another.
William J. Cameron
Interim Supt. of Schools
