When people look for homes, they usually want to know they will be in a great school district. Home buyers in Lenox know for sure, and the high caliber schools are a major reason why people choose to live here. As many of us know, finding a home in the community where you work or you children attend school can be a real challenge in the Berkshire region, and Lenox is no exception. The Lenox Housing Trust recognized this a few years ago, and has since helped seven households purchase their first home right here in Lenox through a matching grant program.
The matching grant program provides up to $10,000 to first-time home buyers, and empowers households with low to moderate incomes to look and hopefully find a home in Lenox. To be eligible for a matching grant, households must meet income limits and work with one of the four local lenders: Lee Bank, Adams Community Bank, Pittsfield Coop Bank and Greylock Federal Credit Union.
If you are house hunting in Lenox, or know somebody who is and who may be interested in a matching grant, please contact Town Planner Gwen Miller for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org or (413) 637-5500 x1203.
