In order to understand and appreciate the struggle to establish the independent modern state of Kenya, historians, students and other interested parties would find it helpful to consider the history of the Kikuyu before the arrival of the Europeans. Thus, this web site will attempt to summarize their history starting with the migration of early Kikuyu in the 1500s; then, the site will examine the Mau Mau Urprising between 1952 and 1958 along with the British response.
