Dear Parents and Visitors,

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Morris Elementary – welcome to our school’s website.  We hope you find it a great source of information as you learn about our school.

Morris School is located on West Street in Lenox, Massachusetts – a vibrant town in the beautiful Berkshire region of New England.  Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, The Audubon Nature Reserve, the Colonial Theater and many other cultural and historic sites are a short distance from our school. Our school grounds incorporate a ball field, soccer field, two playgrounds and a blacktop recess area set amidst a backdrop of mountains and woods which surround the property.

Morris is the sole public elementary school in Lenox-enrolling about 340 students.   Our school serves students aged 3 to 11 in a PK to grade 5 program.  Students completing grade 5 at Morris typically attend Lenox Memorial Middle and High School.  At Morris, all core subjects (English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) are taught by the classroom teacher.  Specialist teachers provide experiences in art, music, computer, physical education and world languages.  Special educators, a reading specialist, math specialist, speech clinicians, occupational and physical therapists, counselors, and behavioral support specialists collaborate closely with teachers to ensure that all students find success in their school experience.

Parents play an important role in the life of our school.  Parent volunteers, chaperones, readers, and PTO event coordinators work with us closely to meet changing needs of the school community.  Additionally, parents serve on the School Council, an advisory body that assists the Principal in identifying school priorities.  A monthly newsletter and periodic family curriculum events keep parents tuned in to the educational lives of their children.  Seasonal performances of our performance ensembles allow parents and the community to enjoy the talents of our students.

At Morris we strive to prepare children with the skills and knowledge they will need as they move towards young adulthood.  At the same time, we recognize that childhood is a magical time of life, worthy of being lived to its fullest.  We invite you to explore this website to learn more about our great school.  If questions remain, please don’t hesitate to call and arrange a visit or a tour.   We would be happy to show you around and answer your questions.

Until then, all the best!
