2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

The US Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., announced on September 28, 2016 that Morris Elementary School was named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School!

Our nomination was based on our success in closing the achievement gap for all groups of students.  This means that the overwhelming majority of our students, regardless of risk factors such as low-income, disability, or English language learner, are achieving outstanding growth and improvement on MCAS.

While our standardized testing results are certainly impressive, it takes so much more than preparing for a test to successfully educate a child.  At Morris we try to maintain an appropriate level of academic rigor within a context of developmentally appropriate practice.    We have extremely talented educators who encourage our students to put forth their best possible effort in their learning whether it be learning how to do multi-digit multiplication, learning how to comprehend complex texts, or learning how to be a good friend.
