Summer Reading Assignment for Incoming Seventh Graders

Please read at least three books over this summer:

Boy by Roald Dahl (provided by school)

One novel from the genre of your choice (historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, suspense/mystery, adventure fiction, sports fiction, contemporary young adult fiction, classic fiction, et. al.)

A third book from the genre of your choice (see previous list plus non-fiction)

In September you will have major writing assignments based upon your summer reading; it will be wise to keep brief notes on index cards on plot, character, setting, conflict and theme. Consider using one card for each topic for a total of fifteen cards.

Remember that students who read five or more books over the summer are eligible for an ice cream sundae party in September.
