GRADE STUDENTS – Anyone
who may be interested in checking out the Vocational Programs offered at either
Pittsfield High or Taconic High School needs to let Mrs. Spoehr know by the end
of this week. There will be a field trip to those schools offered on Friday, February
CARNATION SALES– The Class of 2014 will be
selling carnations during all lunches on
Wednesday
2/8, Thursday 2/9 and Friday 2/10. All
carnations will be $2.00 and will be delivered on
Tuesday,
February 14th during G period classes.
COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR STUDENTS
IN GRADES 8 – 12: The Berkshire Botanical Garden
is offering a new program for student’s ages 14 – 17 this summer. It’s called Youth Garden Assistants. It’s a great
volunteer experience for anyone interested in the nature, working outdoors,
working with children and learning more about horticulture and careers that are
linked to that profession. There is a minimum of a week’s commitment over the
summer with potential to volunteer more. If you are interested please stop by
guidance to inquire and receive the application. This experience can also be
used to earn community service credits.
EVERGREEN – is having a waste awareness
week on Wednesday, February 8th, Thursday the 9th and
Friday the 10th. We ask that
students in 2nd and 3rd lunches separate their extra food
from other trash (such as plastic bags) when throwing out their trash. There
will be a bin for food and a bin for trash. Both will be weighed each day to
see how much waste our school generates.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS – The Pennies for Patients fund
drive to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will take place from January
23 to February 10. Please be generous with your pocket change for this worthy
cause. Collection boxes can be found in all of the classrooms.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
NEW ENGLAND INSTITUTE OF
TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS – Information can be found on
line at www.neit.edu or in guidance. Any senior who plans on attending the New
England Institute of Technology, there are multiple scholarships you can apply
for. Information in guidance.
SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS – New scholarships are coming in
daily for seniors. The Town of Lenox
Scholarship is now available in guidance; Berkshire County Youth Soccer League;
and Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs for women 16 – 19, Massachusetts
Broadcasters Association, UNICO. Please
see Mrs. Omelenchuck for applications and a complete listing.
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
IN THE MIDDLE OF
MILLIONS
– The Middle School Literary magazine is looking for stories, poetry, graphic
short tales, artwork and photography from 6th, 7th and 8th
graders. Please email your submissions as attachments to mmacdonald@lenoxps.org by Friday,
February 10th.
STAFF OF IN THE
MIDDLE OF THE MILLIONS – will meet on Wednesday,
February 15 at 2:35 in Room 5. Interested 6th, 7th and 8th
grade creative writers, artists and editors are encouraged to attend. The first
edition of the magazine will be published in March.
VALENTINE’S DANCE - The Class of 2017 will be sponsoring a Valentine’s
Dance on Friday,
February 10th from
7 – 9 p.m. The cost of the dance is $5.00 but if you wear either a shirt or
pair of pants that is either red or pink you can get in for only $4.00.

CASE FOR TRANSPORTATION ON THE BUS.
* THROWING OF
SNOWBALLS IS NOT ALLOWED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.
* STUDENTS ARE
NOT ALLOWED IN THE FACULTY/STAFF DINING ROOM AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. THIS
INCLUDES BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER SCHOOL. THE SODA MACHINE IS OFF LIMITS!
* FOR HIGH
SCHOOL STUDENTS: BOOK BAGS ARE TO BE KEPT OUT OF THE HALLWAYS AT ALL TIMES.
PLEAE KEEP YOUR BOOK BAGS AND OTHER BELONGINGS IN YOUR CLASSROOM OR LOCKER.
DURING LUNCH, BAGS SHOULD BE LEFT AT YOUR SEAT BEFORE YOU GET YOUR MEAL.
