Juniors travel to Washington DC

The junior class traveled to the Statue of Liberty and Washington, D.C. last week.  We were blessed with sunny skies and 70 degree weather as we took in the sites, including Mt. Vernon, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and Arlington National Cemetery, among others.  We also visited several notable American monuments, including the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam War Memorials, the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and the MLK Jr. Memorial.  Along the way, students and teachers discussed the meaning of what, who, and how we memorialize.  Now that we’re back at school, students are putting those discussions and the sights they saw to use to complete a school project for their American Studies course.
