Foreign Language - Would you like to learn a language while traveling to another country, for the summer or for a year, paid for entirely by the US Government? The national Security Language Initiative for Youth offers scholarships to students aged 15 to 18 to live abroad and study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, or Turkish. Applications are due October 30th, please see Mr. Johnson for details.
Lenox Loop Road Race, November 1st – The race will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 10:00 a.m. – It is a 3.5 mile loop that begins and ends at the school. The Lenox Loop is sponsored by the Lenox Cross country Team and the Lenox Dale Fire Company. Entry forms are available in the main office. Questions? See Coach Teasdale. Picture & ID Retake Day – will be Monday, October 27 in the Duffin Lobby. Any staff who did not make the first session should go down to the Duffin Lobby at their convenience to have their picture taken for their ID.
“Your words, your design”.. One poster to promote teen safety at work. All students ages 14 – 19 are invited to enter the contest. # 1 Be creative…..What do you picture when you think of a good, safe job for young workers? What can teens do to make a difference? (e.g. recognize hazards, get training, know their rights) # 2 Develop a slogan…What kind of message will reach your peers? In any language, come up with a phrase about why good teen jobs are safe and healthy ones. # 3 Design your poster. Cash prizes….more information in guidance.
“Six seconds, one video”... Think of an Idea – Create your Vine – Post your Vine – Mail in your entry form – 1st place $100.00 and all finalists will receive certificates of recognition and be invited to an Awards Ceremony at the Massachusetts State House. Deadline December 8th for both. More info in guidance.

High School Democrats of America (HSDA) – If you are interested in helping with political campaigns or helping with current issues, come join HSDA. Informational meeting will be this Friday at 2:30 in room 39. All are welcome….

SAT Exam – will be held on November 8th. Registrations must be made before October 28th on line.
Seniors – Diploma name verifications – all seniors please see Mrs. Duffin in guidance for diploma name verifications.
Seniors - Colleges/Universities are beginning to book visits to our school for interested students. Please register for the college/university you are interested in with Mrs. Omelenchuck so room accommodations are met. Please check in with your regular scheduled class before coming to guidance. Students will not be called down.

Senior Scholarships – Big Y has arrived. Their scholarship is awarded to the most academically outstanding students in Western Ma. Big Y customers/dependents and Big Y employees/dependents are eligible. Dependents of Law Enforcement Officers/Firefighters and Military Service Members are all eligible for additional Big Y Scholarships.
STEM Career Fair – for students in grades 10 – 12, will be held on Friday, November 21st in the SBA Lounge & Cafeteria at Berkshire Community College from 8:30 – 10:30 or 10 – 12:00 p.m. The fair will showcase career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. Limited spacing per school, interested students will need to register in guidance.
