This is William Cameron, the Superintendent of Schools in Lenox. At approximately 6:00 PM you will receive a voice message via School Messenger of what I announce here.
When I contacted you regarding the closing of LMMHS for asbestos abatement I said that that it was our aspiration to resume in-school instruction there on March 23 – tomorrow – but that it was only an aspiration, not a promise. I am contacting you to inform you that what we hoped would be the case is not the case, and that LMMHS will be closed to in-person instruction for the rest of this week.
The reason for this very unfortunate delay is twofold: the contractors have found that the scope of work is greater than they anticipated; and the pace of the work has been slower than they estimated it would be. I recognize the hardship this poses on many LMMHS families, and I deeply regret that those students whose families have been sending them to school will face the school’s physical closure for another week. Remote instruction will continue through Friday, March 26, for all LMMHS students.
I will advise you of the status of the work a week from today. I assure you that no one wants more for LMMHS to resume in-person instruction than I do.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
